It features sectional construction. Separate the kiln bottom and sections to repair bricks, change elements, or to move the kiln down narrow stairwells or through the narrowest doorways. It is less susceptible to damage during loading than a grooved brick.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eViking kilns are designed for extra heavy-duty firing and high temperatures. They are similar to our standard studio kilns but with these additional features:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll Vikings are digital. As with the TnF studio kilns, they feature the Genesis controller, easy access switch box, ½ amp fuse, and LiteLid. But in addition, they use heavy-duty mercury relays instead of our standard mechanical relays. Mercury relays outlast the standard mechanical contactor relays by a wide margin. The Vikings have power to spare. They are 14,400 watt kilns and fire on a 70 amp, 240v circuit. (Note: we can also make these 240v kilns for international electrical systems.) UL\/CUL \u0026amp; NEC compliant high amperage fuses protect the kiln and circuit wiring. Most people can lift the lid with one hand. Unlike pulleys and weights, the LiteLid is self-contained on the kiln. No need to drill holes in the ceiling for pulleys. The LiteLid sharply reduces wear between the lid and top rim of firebrick. The truss and floating lid allow expansion of the lid.
