The frame of the DownDraft is made of heavy\nangle iron and 1\" thick steel tubing. We've thickened both the brick\nand fiber insulation which is now backed with an 1\" airs pace created\nby the square tubing between the stainless steel jacket and the\ninsulation. Four and one half inches of brick and 1\" ceramic fiberboard\ninsulate the brick Down Drafts, and three inches of fiber with 1\"\nceramic fiberboard insulate the fiber DownDrafts. We've added air space\nwith the metal tubing to the doors of the fiber and brick DownDrafts to\nenhance the kiln's strength and efficiency. Additionally, the air space\nresults in a cooler outer surface and a thicker kiln door. Fiber and brick DownDrafts are built with double insulated floors, consisting of\nbrick and ceramic fiberboard. The additional strength and insulation\nenables the kiln to fire at high temperatures, and to maintain\ntemperatures without damage or deterioration. Efficient venturi burners are used on the Olympic DD40 downdraft kilns with an option for blower burners if desired.
