It is a major flux for higher temperature (Cone 5-13) alkaline glazes. It is less soluble than other alkaline compounds and produces more durable glazes. This lithium carbonate powder can also be used as a supplemental flux to reduce the maturing temperature of stoneware glazes by as much as 2 or 3 cones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe powder and granular forms differ in particle size (the latter being coarser) and reactivity.
